Capri Trip to Mt Tamborine

The Capri Club had scheduled a run to Mt Tamborine last Sunday. I wasn't sure I would go or what car I would take as Capris & hot weather don't go well together. Well, for me anyway. I prefer my air-conditioned Subaru for summer runs.
Anyway, we took the green 1600 deluxe for the day & it went very well. The climb up the mountain isn't too bad & most of the road has been re-surfaced. The temperature gauge only moved slightly which was very pleasing. Three Capris turned out for the day & all of the four cylinder variety (one with a 2 litre).
St Bernards is a lovely old hotel on the mountain & we enjoyed the view, the drinks, the lunch & the walks.
The trip home via Beenleigh & the Motorway was another story. After leaving the mountain, it became pretty hot & the Capri air conditioning (?)  wasn’t coping too well.  With all vents open & windows down it was still hot.  My passenger was starting to mutter things about my choice of car for the day. In fact, it became more than a mutter! The engine temperature gauge didn’t move but the temperature gauge inside the car, especially the one on the passenger’s side started to boil. Well, we did arrive home, but both totally saturated with sweat. I am not sure if I will ever get her inside a Capri again!
