Capris at the Auto Spectacular, Willowbank - 14 April 2013

This was our club outing for April and what a difference a day makes! Many of you would recall that on the Saturday, the weather was terrible and it rained all day. This put in doubt my plans to even go and it seems many others thought the same way. However, Sunday turned out to be a beautiful day and many saw it as a day to get out. My trip started with a bit of alarm when, not far from home, I noticed huge plumes of blue smoke coming out the back of the car. It was running fine & I kept going & it seemed to lessen a little but it was the general consensus of opinion was that I had overfilled the engine oil. I really hope that is correct!

The Capri Club had only two Capris present – my green 1600 and an RS3100. We were joined by another member's son driving the Falcon Hardtop and guest member who had his Escort. We had a good little spot under the trees and plenty of room as we had reserved space for 10 cars. Next door was the food van & then, next door to that, were the dunnies. What more could you want?
This is a huge event and there were thousands of people with the cars stretching forever.

All tastes were catered for as we saw dragsters, hot rods, heaps of Falcons & Holdens, all the American muscle car stuff, the Shannon’s Goggomobiles, a variety of classic vehicles, big & small, old& new, many trade displays and even two Capris. The Swap stalls were just behind us, but as usual, no Capri or small Ford stuff.
