Capris at the Auto Spectacular, Willowbank - 14 April 2013

This was our club outing for April and what a difference a day makes! Many of you would recall that on the Saturday, the weather was terrible and it rained all day. This put in doubt my plans to even go and it seems many others thought the same way. However, Sunday turned out to be a beautiful day and many saw it as a day to get out. My trip started with a bit of alarm when, not far from home, I noticed huge plumes of blue smoke coming out the back of the car. It was running fine & I kept going & it seemed to lessen a little but it was the general consensus of opinion was that I had overfilled the engine oil. I really hope that is correct!

The Capri Club had only two Capris present – my green 1600 and an RS3100. We were joined by another member's son driving the Falcon Hardtop and guest member who had his Escort. We had a good little spot under the trees and plenty of room as we had reserved space for 10 cars. Next door was the food van & then, next door to that, were the dunnies. What more could you want?
This is a huge event and there were thousands of people with the cars stretching forever.

All tastes were catered for as we saw dragsters, hot rods, heaps of Falcons & Holdens, all the American muscle car stuff, the Shannon’s Goggomobiles, a variety of classic vehicles, big & small, old& new, many trade displays and even two Capris. The Swap stalls were just behind us, but as usual, no Capri or small Ford stuff.

Nice Capris For Sale

Here are three nice Capris for sale at the moment.
The amounts being asked for the 1600s seem to be creeping up.
The only interest I have in them is that I would like to own all of them.

This nice V6 is advertised on Gumtree for $25,000 at http://www.gumtree.com.au/s-ad/brighton/cars-vans-utes/1972-ford-capri-coupe-v6-gt/1016551467

I really like the colour of this 1600 & it appears to be in great condition - asking price $18,500.

There is another 1600 Auto (Vermillion Fire/Black Trim) advertised for $20,000 at this site. Unfortunately I cannot copy a picture of it.

Maybe I need to write Santa a letter!

Ford Capri Aerodynamics

If you need to do some serious aerodynamic tuning to make your Capri go a bit faster, have a read of this.
If you understand any of it, best of luck & you will probably have a very fast Capri!

Bayside Restorer's Swap Meet - Ormiston

The Capri Club's event for March was the Ormiston Swap. Unfortunately only two Capris showed but a few more members attended.
As at many swap meets, there is a creeping amount of bric-a-brac and an ever declining amount of small Ford bits & finding any Capri parts would be a major windfall. I think that the best on offer was a couple of old Classic Ford magazines with pictures of Capris. I opened my wallet only for a sausage and a can of Coke.
When back with our cars there seemed to be an unending interest in the cars & Capris. There were lots of different cars as can be seen by the pictures. This year there seemed to be more cars on display that ever before.

The Bayside Restorer's Club put on several big well organised events each year and they deserve the support of the classic car community
